Perhaps this is a good omen for the rest of the year – I certainly hope so – we started 2013 with a donation. We also saw some more great fundraising activities from our supporters, including from Gertrude Gaderbauer Sagmuller who managed to raise €550 from the sale of our calendars. These donations have helped fund our first initiative this year – a food donation for the shelter dogs. Using our latest donations we were able to purchase 300kg of dry food, and dental sticks, which gives all the dogs in the shelter a proper feed for one day. Needless to say there were lots of very happy dogs and many wagging tails!
We were also able to vaccinate 14 of the newly abandoned puppies, giving them a fighting chance of survival in the shelter. There is as always however so much more to do – especially as the winter is now in full swing. The shelter dogs will need more food donations to help them through the winter and those that get sick, or puppies that need vaccination, will need our support with their medical bills. In particular we need funding to vaccinate the latest 8 puppies and young dogs abandoned at the shelter.
Whilst on the one hand we want to provide this support to all the shelter dogs we also want to try to get as many of them out of the shelter and into forever homes. Our first appeal for the new year is for the following dogs below, all of whom are desperate to share their love and live a happy life in a forever home, out of the cold and with plenty of food.
There is little Naomi, a 4-5 month old little girl; Sugar, a very cute 5-6 month old girl; Shana adorable fluffy lady just over 1 year old, all of whom are currently in the shelter where their future is uncertain and not good. We also want to find a good home for little Tabea, mom of Naomi, who is currently living in the local shelter with her daughter
If you can open up your home to one of these babies or know anyone who can, please let us know. If you cannot give one a home then please help us by donating towards our vaccination scheme, and share our blog with friends and family – perhaps they would like to help or know someone who would like to give one of these dogs a chance at a happy life.
