About Us

Hope for Romanian Strays – Ploiesti

We are a new small charity set up by volunteers helping the many stray dogs and cats on the streets in Romania.  The full name of the Charity is Hope For Romania Strays and was founded in June 2012 and got the name from Hope  – one of the first successful rescues and rehoming stories from the group.  The group started life on Facebook, where volonteers would post about dogs and cats in need of help or adoption.  The goal of the charity is to help strays in Romania – finding them foster homes or shelter and eventually new adoptive homes globally.  There are already many success stories, including Emily a paralysed dog, who thanks to the Facebook community was found a new home in the UK and funds gathered over Facebook paid for her travel costs to her new forever home.

Whenever animals are rescued from the street they are given medical attention by local vets and are also spayed.  The charity is also working with the local community to educate people about the importance of getting dogs and cats spayed to try to reduce the number of unwanted animals ending up on the streets or being abused.

We are still building up the charity and will try to build up this blog with examples of happy stories and updates from the streets.  Any support, no matter how small, makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated – most of all by the animals that desperately need our help.

In October 2016 I adopted a cross bread dog that had come over to the UK 9 days previous, to a foster home in Cambridge. I found him while looking on the internet. Fell in love with his picture straight away. Went down to see him [ we live near Doncaster ] he was very timid at the time. He has settled well and is very loving, I am so glad we made the right choice.
They are so desperate for attention and lots of love. Would recommend giving one of these dogs a home

Hello, I would be interested to know more about adopting one of your dogs (just LOVE Rex!!!). I struggle with your website though and can’t find the registration for adoption, the procedure or the fee…. Please let me know.
