All I want for Christmas is love

It is that time of year again when we all get ready to spend some time with friends and family.  There is that last minute rush to buy presents, turkeys and enough food and wine to last for days.  During this time of year we often also think about those that are less well off, refugees homeless through conflict, orphans with no families or the homeless on the streets of our own towns.

I would ask you to also spare a thought for the thousands of stray dogs in Romania.  They are there, desperately cold, wet, hungry and totally unloved.  While we eat until we feel like bursting they will stand shivering around a meager bowl of food – if they are lucky.  As you polish off your turkey think of these poor souls in Romania, their desperate eyes begging for food and love, and hoping that someone will save them from the hell they live in and take them to a warm home where they will be loved.

Maybe over your Christmas lunch with your family you could discuss whether you or anyone in your family has a small space in their lives and homes for a very needy and desperate Romanian dog.  With over 1400 in the Bucov shelter alone there are just so very many that need a home but each dog that leaves the shelter makes space and frees up resources for others.  Perhaps you could consider fostering or putting up a poster in your local vet office to try to help us find homes.  These are lives worth saving so think about how you can help and share their images below.
