Our Dogs

Many of the dogs below have now found homes but there are still so very many more in need of homes – of all shapes, sizes and ages.  You can find more information on our Facebook page or on the Pro Dog Romania website (in German) and of course please do not hesitate to get in touch directly and we can send you recent photos and information of dogs urgently needing homes.

Because of the huge number of dogs in our care and lack of phisical time to keep active a clear adoption gallery, we will try in 2017 to keep you informed trough our posts here on site regarding the dogs and cats in our care that would need help to be promoted for being seen and saved out of here! Please contact us via email at hopeforstrays@yahoo.com if you can offer any of these dogs a foster or permanent home or if you would like any further information on them, we will try our very best to be more active online fr being able to help better our babies.

Christa – HAPPY ADOPTED 2018

08.06.15-8

Christa has a very special story, in part because it also demonstrates that there are good people helping rescue street dogs.  Christa was found in Bucharest, paralysed near her tiny babies, who were just a few weeks old.
A very special lady could not just walk past after seeing this special situation and she took all the puppies and the paralysed mommy home! She started right away to try to help the mother and her pups and we were subsequently contacted to ask to help her.  We promised to help with vet expenses, and whatever else was needed for the little family, but our bigest problem was, as always: NO SAFE PLACE AVAILABLE FOR THEM.  Fortunately the wonderful lady continued to keep all the souls in her care and she quickly found families for all the babies, whilst at the same time continuing to provide the mother with treatment, at her own expenses, and asking from us only one important thing : to find a safe place for the this rescued mother, who we called Christa.
Christa has now arrived in our care,  we continued laser therapy, which she started in Bucharest with her rescuer and now, after many weeks, we are able to say that the miracle happened and Christa can walk again!  She will never walk like a normal dog but she is up on her legs and can walk.  Thanks to a wonderful friend Christa is now out of the clinic, in a safe foster place, but we need a warm loving family to save her.  Can you help complete the miracle by helping this amazing dog, who has battled so much to keep herself and her pups alive, find a loving forever home?

Negrutz – In Germany safe from 14.08.2015

04.06.15-2

04.06.15Negrutz – our brave hero , who was once a skinny paralysed young baby, who struggled so much to be well, who was saved by his love for life and also by…food, because as a baby he was always hungry 🙂 Our tiny skinny sensitive baby grow up to be a lovely precious boy, with shinny fur, same love for life and also for humans , he loves to be hugged and kissed , he loves to play with other dogs and he needs his own wonderful family to save him out of here , please share for him , thank you!!!

Gri / Schroder – ADOPTED 08.01.2016

Gri_23.06.15

Gri“As you may have guessed by now, I am one of the unlucky dogs trapped in public shelter, with no luck so far, no adoption request, no foster place, nothing at all.  I am a little shy it is true but otherwise I am a pretty cool guy, who wouldn’t be scared if they would have to live my terrible life in the dangerous shelter?
Our PDR friends chose a German name for me, I am known on their gallery as SCHRÖDER, but mommy Aniela is pretty stupid when it is about foreign languages so she is calling me Gri, haha, Romanian version of GREY , you can see what a rich imagination she has!
Would you like to take me home?  Maybe one of your friends will decide to save me out of here? Please share for me , I am pretty depressed here and I am still young, I could enjoy what I was told it is named “normal life”, I don’t know yet what that can be since this horrid shelter is for now my only “normality”
With respect, Gri/Grey/Schroder or whatever, just take me out of here please!”

Mona – ADOPTED 25.09.2015

Mona_23.06.15

June 2015 – After 2nd surgery for removing her mamary tumor, our old lady Mona is back with her foster mommy, waiting and hoping that someone will offer her the safety of a real home soon.

Our sweet wonderful Mona arrived in public shelter as “usual”, after being caught by dogcatchers
Being so fluffy we never observed that she might be pregnant especially because we also saw big mamary tumors on her belly.  Our lovely soul give birth to a tiny baby that died in less than 24 hours and her great vets took her to the clinic for surgery to remove the tumors, discovering in surgery that she also has pyometra, they had to decide to remove the tumors in two sessions to be  able to remove pyometra in this first surgery also.  Normally after surgery Mona should be back in public shelter but a wonderful friend offered to keep her safe.

Whitey – happy adopted from 17.12.2015

whitey_23.06.15

He is now a fat loud crazy smiley doggie but he was not always like that , our lovely Whitey is a great survivor from public shelter, he was so very sick because of distempe that we had moments when we were not sure if he would make it but this lovely fluffy boy made it! After a long slow recovery period our big boy is fat and happy again but the difficult part now comes because he hates being locked in kennels and he needs a safe place for going out of the ugly shelter that almost killed him.  This survivor now really needs a loving home where he celebrate his survival.

Lola – Safe from 26.06.2015

Lola

Our small sized (~8kg) gorgeous super mommy Lola needs a home, she is promising you lots of love and kisses, please help her find a safe place, share for her.  She was rescued with her babies, Rex and Lulu, who are also looking for a home (see below).

Lulu – Safe from 18.09.2015

Lulu2

Lulu, lovely precious daughter of Lola, waiting for ages to be seen and adopted.  She is a sweet young dog, slightly bigger than her small mum Lola coming in around 10-12kg. We hope that such a beautiful young lady might find a home soon so that we can use her foster place for other dogs in need.

Rex – Adopted from 18.09.2015

Rex

This gorgeous, handsome teddy bear, with an insanely long tongue, is Rex.  He is the on of Lola and is Lulu’s brother.  He is just adorable and still quite young but sadly no one seems to be interested in giving this fluffy cuddly a chap a home.  If we can find this cute chap a home we can use his foster place for another dog in need.  He is a smallish boy currently weighing around 10kg.

Pega – Adopted from 13.08.2015

Pega_23.06.15

“You are talking about poor beauties in need? About lovely dogs dumped in public shelter ? About wonderful souls waiting for a family to save them out from here? Then you are for sure talking about me , lovely wonderful Pega, dreaming to be saved from public shelter! Please share for me , thank you, big big hugs Pega”

Lup and Attila – SAFE!

08.06.15-6Lup and Attila are two gentle giants, waiting calmly to be seen and saved.  Like all the shelter dogs their lives have not been easy but they are still very trusting and lovely dogs.  It is so sad to see large dogs like these two in the cramped kennels in the shelter – they really need space to stretch their legs and run but this is not an option in the shelter.  Unfortunately their size also means they are harder to home as people tend to prefer smaller dogs.  We will not give up hope though and we hope and pray that someone will see their beautiful faces and decide to adopt them (together or individually).  Can you help with making that hope a reality?

08.06.15-5

08.06.15-4

Tic – SAFE in Germany from 14.08.2015

Tic

Tic

Tic is a bright , friendly and very interested dog that suffered from distemper as a puppy. He has a so-called ” distemper Tick ” and shrugs at regular intervals. He can drink and eat by himself, in his very own special way. Tic gets by okay with his “problem” and finds the world and the life around him exciting. The little guy wants to live and wants to experience love and joy. We hope that we can find a home for this great little chap, where he is accepted as he is. Tic is fine with other dogs.

You can find a small video of him here

.

ALL DOGS BELOW HAVE BEEN RESERVED & SAVED!!

Herbert – SAFE 16.10.2015

Herbert

Herbert

What has Herbert already had to go through in his life ? Not only on the streets , but then brutally chased and caught by dog catchers and now in the death Kennels in the 1,400 dog shelter. This is by no means how he should end his life! We are looking for a loving home for poor old Herbert, where he is finally safe and can finally relax and enjoy his final years. We hope so much for him that he can finally get to know the beautiful side of life . Herbert is still somewhat uncertain towards strangers, but this is understandable as an old man in such an environment . He lives with female and male dogs.  We do someone takes pity on this lovely old boy and finally gives him a forever home.

Woody – ADOPTED 12.06.2015

Woody

Poor old WOODY it is nearing 12 years old. He suffers from permanent stress in the overcrowded kennel. Woody is a regular victim of bullying from the other dogs and has a fresh injury to the ear. His lips are also damaged. The little guy is under constant tension, the shelter – life in the 1,400 dog shelter is a torture for him. Woody is still uncertain with strangers. In a calm and loving home he should quickly come to trust people who mean well with him.

Santa Claus – ADOPTED & SAFE!!

Santa Claus

Santa Claus

Santa Claus was rescued on 06/12/14 from the street – hence the name . This little man is a very friendly, happy fellow who must have once had an accident in the past because his hind legs now and then ” fail”.  He seems to have this neurological issue, but quickly stabilized itself and moves on. We are looking for a quiet place without too many stairs for our little Santa Claus. A single-storey home would be great , and certainly this little guy would also welcome a lady dog to keep him company in his new home.

Yuna – ADOPTED!!!!

Yuna

Yuna

Yuna is a quiet and affectionate companion, who has been waiting for her turn to find a home. She has a severely deformed front leg , which complicates her already stressful life even more. In Romania, nothing more can be done for a deformed dog like Yuna, and she will not have a good future as a result of her deformity. We are looking for someone who lives on the ground floor and has a garden where Yuna can live a relaxed life . She is such a good soul and deserves a great life – just not in Romania.

Hello, Could you tell me if Yuna is still available and if she is friendly towards other dogs? How old is she? Thanks, Roxie

    • August 7, 2015 at 8:18 am

I believe she is still available – but let me confirm that with Aniela and find out her age too. Most of these dogs are fine with other dogs btw – they have to live with so many other dogs in crowded situation so they get very used to being with other dogs.

    • August 7, 2015 at 1:08 pm
