We are very happy to announce that our official fundraising online charity auction is now live on Facebook. Through this auction we hope to raise some additional funds to add a puppy enclosure at the shelter (we have permission to do and a €700 donation from Pro Dog Romania we just need a bit more to cover all the costs). This will help reduce the high rate of puppy deaths by keeping them separate from the adult dogs, so they will be less exposed to disease but also less likely to be attacked. We also still have a €500 debt from our neutering programme which we would like to pay off, and a number of sick and young dogs who’s medical bills need to be covered.
There are some very interesting items that have been donated, for example designer jewellery and original Chinese silk products.
And then of course there are the various animals items, such as the famous catnip filled “Whitey” mice, handmade and a huge hit with any cat that has ever been given one. Or the renowned “Bighead Jazzpaws” Poodle Blanket, modelled here by Don, also very popular for pets who like to snuggle. There are also a range of other handmade options, such as handmade toiletries made to your choice of scent, a professional pet portrait, key rings, and original artwork from Suffolk artists.
For the business people there are also great business services and options that have been donated. These include a day of strategy consulting (worth €1200), a business twitter lesson, career and CV advice and business coaching. All these services are offered by highly skilled, professional experts who have donated their time and expertise to help us raise money through this auction. This is a great way to access some business services whilst helping stray dogs and at a great price!
Given that one of the objects is to help the puppies at the shelter, and also some we are fostering, we thought it would be a great idea to allow people to bid to name one of these puppies. All in all there are 7 puppies who you can name – 3 girls and 4 boys. The highest bidder will get to officially name the puppy and we will keep them posted of the puppies progress. All bids for puppy naming will go to that puppy – so here you know 100% were your money is going.
So how does it actually work then? It is very simple. All you need to do is go to the Facebook event and if you see an item or service you like simple write your bid in the comment box. At the end of auction the highest bid wins the item and once money has been paid the item will be dispatched to you. Items come from all over the world (USA, UK, Germany, Australia) and often postage is covered. Payment can be sent to Hope for Romanian Strays either through paypal (hopefostrays@yahoo.com) or via a € bank transfer to or a £ transfer.
So go and have a look at all the great items available to bid for – and please share with friends and family. Every penny bid goes towards helping the dogs and puppies and it is a fun way to help out some very desperate animals.
