Happy Birthday Hope for Romanian Strays!

It is official – we are now one year old!  This time last year Aniela Ghita founded Hope for Romanian Strays to take the help she was providing to shelter and stray animals in Ploiesti to the next level.  What a year it has been!  For a small, volunteer run charity, with no support from any organisations or wealthy benefactors, we have achieved an amazing amount.  With the dedication of Aniela and our supporters we have managed to rehome numerous dogs and cats, neuter well over 100 dogs and quite a few cats, vaccinate many puppies and build a special puppy unit at the Bucov shelter.  We could not have done this with you our supporters and we thank you with all our hearts for every minute taken to share a post, for every Euro donated to help neuter a dog and for every door opened to provide a forever home for a shelter stray.  Thank you.

Over the next week we will be sharing some of the wonderful success stories, for example of Mishu the dog found on the street in a coma with a fractured skull.  We will also have out guest “blogger” Don interviewing Ninja, the kitten who was going to be thrown out on the street to die, and getting an update from her and some of her siblings.

But we want to do more!  There are over 700 dogs in the shelter, where few survive more than a few years at best and 90% of puppies die, and there are regular mass poisonings of strays on the street and a steady influx of injured animals left to die in agony.  We will continue to work tirelessly to help these animals and we hope that this next year we can save even more from sad and cruel deaths and find more forever homes to provide these strays with happy futures.  Thank you again for your support and please continue to share our stories and post and continue to donate so we can carry on our work.

Thank you for helping me out of this mud
