We ask you for an URGENT STERILIZATION & RETURN LAW OF ALL STRAY AND OWNED DOGS
Romania is already known by animal cruelty . Please, be advised that if the killing of dogs starts, we will show to the entire world the reality of the dog camps, we will notify worldwide about the financial interests behind the business of killing dogs, we will withdraw any support that we have given so far to your country, we will boycott Romanian products and tourism, as no one will want to associate with a corrupt, cruel and immoral country.

Stop the slaughter. Please God.
When is it going to be enough, to stop…Quit blaming the animals….dogs and horses especially….They go on how they are taught and what they know. Overpopulation can be prevented…spay and neuter……This is out and out massacre…slaughter. And those with no morals or ethics, much less a soul and compassion will find enjoyment out of killing a defenseless animal. I am sorry about the child. But, where were the parents….Supervision of children as well as pets are important to prevent things like this. Those people are barbarians. There are solutions to that. Start by regulating breeding, spay and neuter….and prosecute the owner/breeder….put the blame where it is to be!
Disgusted with Romania and how they abuse mistreat and brutally kill these innocent defenseless dogs. They should be ashamed.
I agree, Diana. Probably, anyone released the wild dog propositally. And the grandma of the children should be more cautious. I understand that she feels guilty inside, but this pressure for killing the dogs, won’t do she feel better. Iron Curtain is a chãos. and Romenia has problem with violence against women.
Heartbreaking
inhuman
THIS HAS TO STOP AT ONCE…..ROMANIA YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED……..FOR THOSE WHO BACK THIS CRUEL SLAUGHTER MAY YOU ROT IN HELL AFTER A HORRID PAINFULL REST OF YOUR LIFE………ITS CRUEL IT IS DISGUSTING
I am sobbing my heart out how can this be allowed to happen, these poor babies must be terrified and confused ,
Please I am begging you this needs to stop.
I know – I am so very very upset myself, I just keep bursting into tears too. It is times like this I was a multimillionaire and could just go in there and rescue the lot – and put the corrupt people responsible for a lot of this mess behind bars in country that actually respects laws.
All we can do however is spread the word, increase public pressure on the EU parliament to step in, and donate and help all the individuals who are trying desperately to save as many of these dogs as possible.
Enough pressure on politicians is the only way to stop this long term – and for now we just have to try to save as many as possible. If you know anyone who can take in a dog or foster one let us know and we can organise transport.
stop that!!
Disgraceful!!!!!! Stop this now Romania!!!!!!! Who are they to decide wether to take these poor animals lives!!!!!!!
Shame on you Romania. Remember what you do unto others you shall receive ten fold.
Please stop killing those innocent animals! Most of them have never done something wrong!
romania you are a sick evil country and i pray with all my heart that each and everyone that as hurt these dogs/cats in your country die a terrible death just like you have inflicted on these babies.the goverment aswell for allowing it
day after day… thinking of the poor dogs of Romania. Can’t sleep anymore. Pictures and movies. So terrible. Please let it STOP
Disgreatful Please stop this unsessary crulty
I am very ashamed to be romanian, honestly.the people become more primitive and cruel more than i ever imagined. Many dog lovers are in depression over here (even me),we fight how much we can .They jsut went nuts with that kid story, which was founded to be raped by a pedophil, but they keep saying about teh dogs.this started the khaos in thsi idiot country.i just wish i go on street and kill all those who harm dogs.and all what you said up is all true, and im ashamed that cause of these primitive people, the other will suffer too.they need to be punished no matter what or how.we signed all the online petitions but seems the idiots from government deceided alone to do this law by euthanazing the dogs.People are angry, frustrated, helpless, depressed, thraumatized about whats is going on.And also are agressed on streets if they stay and touch a stray or feed him.i really wish something happen soon before is too late. They even started to kill teh dogs in shelters!!!!!!why?!?!?!till 10 th sept all was ok and they were feed and kinda taken care of,and on 10th sept they started to kill them with cold blooded!we just dunno what to do!Romanians are primitive and without any soul left in them, even the priests here.they act like they are possesed by the devil! We really need the support from other countries too, cause even if Romania is like this,it has animals lovers too who suffer a lot now.Regars,Georgiana
Next Saturday I am participating in a protest outside the Romanian Embassy in London for the strays. I cannot imagine how awful it must be for you too, living in such a soulless country, and seeing such atrocities committed. But know that we around the world are fighting with you and that it might give you some hope Georgiana.
One love ❤
Karen thank you so much for your support – I know that Aniela (who runs the charity and is there on the ground) is overwhelmed right now with what is happening there and it is this support which she gets through the internet that really helps (I am one of the team of volunteers and help out with the social media, including this blog).
I am also interested in learning more info about the protest in the London – could you send us some information about this so we can publise this event? If you could email me personally I will also use my personal twitter and facebook to share the news with my London friends – pharmaguapa@hotmail.com
Hey. I’m a German freelance journalist. For some reasons German media don’t take the situation serious enough. I wanna try to make an impact and I’m looking for someone in Romania who could give me reliable information. It would be great if you were interested. It’s quite hard from Germany without contacts. If you (or anyone who reads this) are interested, please contact me: kristin.heck@backview.eu
Kirsten Heck ich habe dich gerade ein email geschickt – wir wurden uns sehr interessiern mit dich zu sprechen.
Georgiana thank you for giving us a local perspective and reminding us also that not all Romanians support this disgraceful action. I know from Aniela our founder, who is in Romania, that she feels exactly like you do, and sitting here in another country all I can offer you is the support in the knowledge that you are not alone and the world is starting the listen and we will keep fighting to demand that the EU take actions and puts political pressure on Romania to stop this inhumane behaviour. If you have any photos or more information that you want us to publicize please email us at hopeforstrays@yahoo.com – Aniela manages the email so you can email her in Romanian too. Again thank you for your comment and support.
This is terrifying and sickening.
Shame shame shame, where is the compassion Romania. None of these poor dogs asked to be in this situation , it is the human culture that is causing it.
Please listen to the world and stop the vigilantes …..
spay and neuter is the solution. please end this sensless killing now.
Barbaric en shameless. The people responsible should be brought to justice! That it’s problematic and difficult so many strays, I understand.TFor many years they haven’t t followed up the proper imeans to seriously help these dogs. Only fill their own pockets with the reserved money intended for the strays. Nothing has changeg besides there is even more panic and lots of money (120 each dog) distributed for each kill. Scary, unforgivable and especially hell for the stray dogs. Much sadness for all volunteers and doglovers in Romania (and Europe). Powerlessness with such a government Romenia.
It is unbelievable how much money they are putting into killing the dogs when the cost of neutering a dog is only around €20-€25 each! I would love to know where they have suddenly found this money and why they are spending so much – it is clear a large amount of this money is going into corrupt officials pockets, as it has done in the past. Surely rather than carry out this barbaric and uncivilised activity they should start actually tackling the stray issue in a more scientific and effective way (i.e. TNR) and start addressing the issue of corruption that lies behind the huge problem and number of stray dogs on the streets?
Shame on you Romania! This brutal slaughtering must be stopped!
just think for a while, what if reincarnation exists and you will share the same path. think yourself watching your little puppys killing by some human beings.
I hope anyone who reads this and was thinking about taking a holiday in this cruel sadistic country re book somewhere else and I hope this truly affects the tourist trade in your country so what you criminals are making from the deaths of these poor animals you lose from the tourists trade i think sanctions should be put in place against this barbaric government to beat dogs to death in your streets is just showing the world that your country is governed by criminals who’s only interest is making money to line their own pockets greed and barbarism should be stopped in tis tracks wherever it is found to be lurking you are all to blame the people who allowed this to happen and the government for their greed and corruption you are no better than the nazis of world war two and you will be punished for your crimes as were they
Great point Brett. I also really hope that the international spotlight that this cruel behabviour is generating will lead to a greater demand for action against such blatent and rampant corruption in an EU country. If they cannot tackle their corruption and abide by the Eu treaties they have signed the EU should indeed impose sanctions and strict measures against Romania.
This has to stop. No country, let alone one that is part of the EU should be allowed to continue with this barbaric act of needless killing. It is a corrupt, money ,making exercise on behalf of a corrupt government who already receive money towards the spaying and neutering of these poor dogs. Where is that money and what is it being used for? Paying for these dog catchers rewards? It must be stopped.
Well said! These dog catchers are getting rich as a result of cruel and inhumane actions – this is clearly against EU regulations and the EU should formally demand the Romanian government stops this corruption and stops this inhumane behaviour – in compliance with the EU treaties they have signed.
unstead of killing dogs, you should find and catch the rapist and killer of the little boy!!! look like childfuckers and killers have more rights in your country than dogs. catch that beast and kill him like you kill the dogs. that is what he deserves.
Absolutely right Karin!
Stop Stop Stop Stop Stop Stop Stop Stop
Stop cruelty against innocent dogs! They can’t defend themselves! Dogs are humans best friends! They trust us and we betray them! Shame on you Romania!!!
Please stop killing those innocent animals!
this has to stop, these dogs want to be loved, and want to love us.. they have done nothing wrong. it’s a sorry way to make a little chump change. you are teaching your own children evil. they need to learn love and compassion, especially for those less fortunate than them. are you going to start killing old people and babies, then you might as well kill yourself.you sure won’t be missed
the shelter dogs must get homes now or they too will all be killed! those poor stray dogs and puppies, so heart breaking! kill the humans and leave the innocent strays alone!
This is inhumane and barbaric!!! It sickens me!!!
sick fucking country and barbaric people
Start hunting down these dog killers and pedophiles. They should know that this kind of behavior has a cost, sometimes deadly.
Good God show some mercy to these animals! They do not deserve this barbaric treatment. My opinion of this country has been completely changed by how they treat these defenseless animals. Grow a pair & do the right thing!
So very true ! These are innocents !
Am I missing something? As painfully sad as this is, its only what we do here in the UK!!! A so called nation of animal lovers! The western civilised country that we are supposed to be do exactly the same thing! If a stray dog in a pound isn’t claimed in seven days it can be PTS. It’s only for the help of charities and pound pullers that the dogs get out alive. RSPCA estimate that around 8000 happy healthy dogs are year are euthanised in the UK alone just because there seven days are up.
So (unfortunately) we should be sorting our own country as well as adding Romania to the list!
Charl you do have a valid point but the major difference between the UK and Romania is that in the UK the animals are humanely euthanised. What is happening now in Romania, and is officially sanctioned, supported and funded, is that dog catchers are tasked with “euthanising” the street dogs – but in Romania this often means poisoning and beating to death. We know from previous pogroms that the poisoning is very inhumane and slow, with some dogs taking days to die and puppies being left next to their dead mothers bodies and starving to death. The other issue is that in the UK money given to euthanisia is actually used for this – in Romania the bulk of the money goes into individuals pockets. For example we pay €20-€25 to neuter a dog but in their accounts the authorities are down as pay up to €40-€50 per dog – which begs the question where the extra money goes. I cannot give you the figure comparison for ehtanising as we do not generally pay this unless it is an emergency medical issue (in which case the bill includes other elements such as check up, x-rays, etc) but I can assure you that €120 per dog is a huge sum of money and a large amount of this (e.g. for dogs beaten to death) is 100% profit for the dog-catcher.
Romania is a barbaric cruel land.
Stop it!
This is truly appalling but can I just say I have seen evidence on FB that the Mayor tried to cover up the post mortem report on the child that was allegedly killed by the dog. Turns out the child had been raped and murdered before being thrown into an area the dogs inhabited to make it look as though the dogs had killed him. It just gets worse and worse.
I saw this too – it only makes this even more horrific and really questions the competency of Romanian officials and police. To pass a law based on a false report and a criminal act is not only truly unbelievable it also questions the intelligence, morals and legality of the officials who signed off this wave of cruel and barbaric behaviour.
STOP THE KILLING OF GODS CREATURES YOU FUCKING ROMANIAN BASTARDS
STOP KILLING GOD’S CREATURES YOU FUCKING ROMANIAN BASTARDS. YOU ARE A BACKWARD COUNTRY. WE DONT WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU ONLY YOUR ANIMALS.
Sending nothing but ill wishes to those ignorant individuals taking part in this holocaust – Don’t come to England and expect a welcome – WE DON’T BLOODY WANT YOU and you will not be welcomed in our country – Try hell, that’s what you are used to.
Please , this Hell has to END !!!! Stop the killing of these innocent souls !!!!
STOP THIS INHUMAN,HEARTLESS,CRUEL,SICK,DISGUSTING,SADISTIC ,BARBARIC,PURE EVIL HORROR TO THIS POOR INNOCENT DOGS NOW.ROMANIA HAVE NOTHING TO DO IN THE EU,CAST THIS FUCKING CORRUPT COUNTRY OUT OF EU. THE GREATNESS OF A NATION CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED (MAHATMA GANDHI))
dogs don’t kill for nothing. unless that kid was on competition for food & sex with the dogs, was a dog that kill.
………………………
I see romania like a place living on a media-age. this people is VERY ignorance. i really hate who make this..
Please please stop killing these innocent dogs ! They do not deserve this !
This is just so heartbreaking that people would just kill these dogs and the government would allow it ! What is wrong with you ? Theses are living breathing beings that have done nothing to deserve being killed . Please stop ! This is wrong ! Can’t you see that ? They only want love and companionship !
inhuman
Niet te geloven, ik vind het heel erg…. Kon ik maar meer doen… Al die arme honden. Barbaren die Roemenen!!!! Zo niet nodig dit……..
STOP KILLING DOGS YOU SCUMBAGS!! EVERYBODY BOYCOT ROMANIA PRODUCTS AND BOYCOT IT FROM THE EU.
Here’s the logic the Romanian government follows: 1 stray dog kills a child. This stray dog is I’m sure was killed too. Now, we’re going to use the comparing method the court is SOMETIMES using in some cases. We’re going to compare it humans. This dog is the suspect, he was killed in an electric chair. It should have been case closed right? The justice has been served, BUT instead of closing it, the law makers posted a law to massacre the suspect’s family, immediate family, extended family. Leaving nothing behind. Complete annihilation. Now, what does it make them? A hero? I won’t say anything more. For those poor creatures who was killed and murdered.. rest your souls little ones. For those heartless species (I won’t say you are human.. because humans don’t do this!) may you have the justice you deserved. Maybe not now, but always remember Karma.
STOP THIS SLAUGHTER !!!
guys, don’t be so quick to judge. I already cannot ride my bike in the evening because packs of strays attack, those packs also have young pups in them. Euthanasia is the only way to go, since castration is not really efficient; castrated dogs still attack. Yes, it is unfortunate that dogs are beaten to death, and those who did this should be punished but other than putting dogs to sleep, there is no remaining solution.
Crisit thank you for adding a balanced view to this. I think our big issue is that firstly the government has not been spending on castration (there are clear indications that previous sterlisation programmes have been very corrupt) but also the cruelty with which this sanctioned “euthanisia” is being carried out. Working with the shelter I agree that aggressive dogs should not be let out on the streets but there is a signifcant amount of evidence from numerous other countries that tackling stray population through mass euthanisia does not work. The most effective, and proven, way to deal with street dogs is the TNR programme (Trap Neuter Return) but where aggressive dogs are not returned to the street. What this new law however does is simply instigate a wave of mass beatings and poisinings (at €120 a dog there is a big motivation to use cheap methods – and as there is no punishment for beating dogs to death this is most certainly the best way to make €120 in profit).
I totally agree with you that the government must start tackling the issue of the large stray populations but is should do so in a humane, scientifically proven, effective and non-corrupt way. This is not what it is doing now and I can assure you that the issue will not be resolved long term by this death squads.
All the dogs in the world are not equal to 1 human child life…..and the stray dogs who killed that kid were not released from anywhere. They are just like the other thousands dogs just living on the streets….born on the streets and after living there they also die on the streets. Nobody cared about them…people fed and took care of them…just untill they killed that poor kid.
Alex a couple of comments. Firstly it now has emerged that it was not a dog that killed that child but a paedophile who then left the body for the dogs to try to cover his tracks – so this was a human responsible for this atrocity. Secondly this action, however tragic, does not justify the mass slaughter of non-aggressive strays. It is a purely hysterical, illogical and extremely primitive back lash to a tragedy and I would have expected a more civilised response from an EU member. Killing every dog on the streets as the result of one child’s death is an extreme over-kill. Even if it had been a dog that killed this child – whilst it would have been fully right to humanely euthanise this dog, it is not in anyway right to lead this pogrom against dogs, which is strikingly similar to the pogroms against the jews in WWII.
Finally the only way to tackle the issue of stray dogs is through a properly funded, and organised TNR programme – mass euthanisia has been shown time and time again to have limited long term impact on reducing the number of strays.
All of these points taken together clearly indicate that this current action is totally unjustified and is a waste of taxpayers money – as well as being inhumane.
