Santa Claus, rescued from the streets at Christmas. He’s a little chap, 9kg, with neurological problems with his back legs which he is fine with but is looking for a home without too many stairs.
As spring starts to flutter its delicate wings, hope starts to fill the air and with it a desire to sing a little song. The one that springs to mind today is the scarecrow song from the Wizard of Oz – but perhaps with one small adaption for all our dogs wiling away their lives in the shelter:
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain
And my head I’d be scratchin’
While my thoughts were busy hatchin’
If I only had a HOME!

Lotus. A friendly 4 year old, 50cm dog, who absolutely hates the mud in the shelter and spends his time on the kennel roof to avoid the mud.
We have hundreds of dogs wiling away the hours, with little to do in small, dirty muddy and over-crowded kennels. They do not have flowers to confer with but they do the rain, with little protection from it. They are busy scratching their heads with the flees that are rife in the shelter, along with disease and malnutrition. They are busy hatching thoughts of escape and of their own forever home.

Pirate is a relaxed 4 year old dog of moderate temperament. He is friendly to humans, you can crawl and searches for the contact. Pirate has no problems with other dogs.
We work very hard to try to help these dogs, by providing them human interaction and improving kennel conditions as much as we can. We have started funding kennel upgrades that provide cement floors, rather than mud, and with roofs and better kennels. We fund de-worming and other treatment for dogs that we can.
But there are so many dogs and we have so few resources. The very best thing for all of these dogs is to find their very own forever home. There are so many lovely, friendly dogs, that have so much love to give. These dogs deserve more than the cold, miserable and sad existence they have in the shelter, never knowing if they will get enough food or whether they will survive another year.
Please join us and support us is finding homes for these dogs. Please share their photos. Please ask friends and family if they would consider opening their homes and their hearts to one of our Romanian dogs and give them a future. If you hear of someone thinking of getting a dog please tell them about Hope for Romanian Strays and the dogs here in Romania, so desperate and in need of a home. Let’s give some of these dogs a little bit more hope this spring!
